Web Wanderings #2
Rediscover the joy of online exploration! Web Wandering shares a hand-picked selection of unique and captivating websites you won't find anywhere else.
Two weeks ago I introduced this new blog series by Cloudhiker: Web Wanderings. And it was quite a success! Got a lot of positive feedback on the format and decided to publish another edition not just at the end of April as it was planned, but jetzt two weeks after the first edition.
So, here we are, with a fresh set of featured websites, hand-picked from the huge curated collection maintained on Cloudhiker.
This edition is also available on Cloudhiker as a Collection so you can find, like and collect the sites there: Web Wanderings #2
Magic Sketchpad
https://magic-sketchpad.glitch.me
Like everyone can make art, right? Some are just more successful at it. This website helps you add finishing touches to your piece of creativity. Pick a topic from the list on the right, start drawing, and the sketchpad will complete your masterpiece!
Omni
I decided to put Omni on this list because it’s one of those super simple tools you can find online, but have a lot of fun with - maybe hours of fun. Despite lacking any musical knowledge, it was a nice exploring different music scales from all over the world.
No more Google
I personally hate Google. I was a fan decades ago, because they pioneered a lot in the uprising interwebs. Chrome was a great new browser and the search engine was just perfect. Now, it’s just a shell of its former glory, but many people are stuck with their services. But you don’t have to! This is a list of all the alternatives for Google services.
A Conspiracy To Kill IE6
https://blog.chriszacharias.com/a-conspiracy-to-kill-ie6
Let’s stay with Google for another moment. Did you know that some YouTube engineers actually wanted to drop support for Internet Explorer 6 (which was still common at this time) and placed a banner at the top of each video? Their action even contributed to the broader decline of IE6.
Do you like all those websites and want to explore more? Cloudhiker has 24,000+ sites all waiting for you to be discovered! All for free, no account needed.
Short Trip

Make sure audio is enabled and just let you fall into this small, interactive story. I just love this wonderful piece of peaceful art. 😍
TRACK
https://demos.littleworkshop.fr/track
We stay with amazing experiences on the web. This time it’s not that relaxing, but rather a dancy trip trough a kaleidoscope. Lean back, put your VR headset on if you have one, and let it go.
Voice Spinner
https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/Voice-Spinner
That’s a fun one! Record a short audio, can be anything from your own voice or your hamster squeaking, or a radio message. Then turn on the spinner. LOL.
Nobody Live
That’s one of the first websites I found while working on Cloudhiker. The idea is so nice, easy: it shows you streamers with 0 viewers. You’ll be the first (and maybe only) one watching. Great way to find new people and throw a smile on their face. 🩵
That’s it for the second edition of Web Wanderings, powered by Cloudhiker. Let me know how you like this format, share it with your friends and family, and even subscribe if you want to see more. The next edition is scheduled for the end of April.
Until then, feel free to try Cloudhiker and see what you can find on the internet?! 😜
